{"id":3742,"date":"2018-02-13T11:43:52","date_gmt":"2018-02-13T10:43:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/risk\/?p=3742"},"modified":"2018-02-19T11:52:48","modified_gmt":"2018-02-19T10:52:48","slug":"collombin-maxime-de-laffleurement-a-la-caracterisation-reservoir-etude-de-fracturation-sur-la-base-dune-acquisition-lidar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/risk\/collombin-maxime-de-laffleurement-a-la-caracterisation-reservoir-etude-de-fracturation-sur-la-base-dune-acquisition-lidar\/","title":{"rendered":"Maxime Collombin: De l\u2019affleurement \u00e0 la caract\u00e9risation r\u00e9servoir : \u00e9tude de fracturation sur la base d\u2019une acquisition LiDAR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maxime Collombin<br \/>\n<em> Supervisor: Dr. Marc-Henri Derron<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The study of fractured reservoirs is of primary importance for hydrocarbons,&nbsp;water and geothermal exploration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The investigation of natural fracture networks affecting potential reservoir&nbsp;is a key point in the present field of research since fracturing may&nbsp;constitute preferential flow paths for fluids consequently to an increase of&nbsp;the secondary permeability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Performed in the context of a geothermal project in the Western Alps&nbsp;of Switzerland, the present work focuses on the characterization of the fracturing&nbsp;pattern in order to better understand water circulations affecting a&nbsp;gneissic geology (tectonic unit of the \u201cAiguilles Rouges Massif\u201d). The fracturing&nbsp;interpretation is here mainly based on a terrestrial LiDAR survey of&nbsp;outcrops close to (future) production wells as well as on discrete fracture<br \/>\nnetwork (DFN) modelling.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The different sets of fractures are characterized in terms of orientation&nbsp;and density. In addition, traditional field survey observations and measurements&nbsp;from outcrops allow documenting the fracture aperture, types of&nbsp;fillings and the evidences of past and present-day fluid circulations. Fracturing&nbsp;patterns from outcrops and LIDAR analysis are then compared to&nbsp;regional structures observed on a DEM.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Main objectives of this study are: (1) to compare and check the consistence&nbsp;of various sets of fracturing data, acquired by various methods&nbsp;at different scales; (2) to develop the most representative fracture model&nbsp;(DFN), taking into account these datasets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maxime Collombin Supervisor: Dr. Marc-Henri Derron The study of fractured reservoirs is of primary importance for hydrocarbons,&nbsp;water and geothermal exploration.
