From\u00a020 to 24 September 2015, Cl\u00e9ment Michoud (PhD student), Jeremie Voumard (PhD student) and Patrick Huber\u00a0(Msc student)\u00a0were in\u00a0the area of\u00a0Dieppe (Normandy, France)\u00a0for\u00a0LiDAR acquisitions of cliffs from a boat on the sea Channel. They used a terrestrial laser scanner coupled to an inertial unit for this survey. Although the weather conditions were not ideal, they scanned about 40 km of coastal cliff .<\/p>\n

In addition to\u00a0LiDAR data, they\u00a0also took\u00a0several tens of gigabytes of pictures in order to get\u00a0photogrammetric models of the cliffs. Both\u00a0reflex and GoPro cameras were used. When onshore, they visited\u00a0landslides and rockfalls at low tide at\u00a0the foot of the cliff.<\/p>\n

This work is part of a cooperation project on coastal stability, that the Risk<\/em> group has since several years with the University of Caen (Stephane Costa, Olivier Maquaire, \u00a0Robert Davidson and\u00a0Pauline Letortue). It was made possible thanks to a fantastic\u00a0boat pilot, Alban Legardien.<\/p>\n
