Visiting PhD Student at PLANH

Jayati Chawla is a PhD researcher in the Geoinformatics for Climate-Resilient Urban Systems (GRUSS) group at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany. Her research focuses on urban heat and environmental justice, with a strong emphasis on quantitative data and methods. She holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India.
From May to June 2026, Jayati is a visiting researcher at the University of Lausanne (UNIL), where she collaborates with Jessica Verheij and the PLANH group at IGD. During her stay, she aims to integrate urban planning and policy perspectives into her research, particularly to better understand the drivers of heat exposure disparities.
