PET Lab started in mid-2016 at the Department of Information Systems<\/a>\u00a0of HEC Lausanne,\u00a0University of Lausanne.<\/p>\n

We research technology that can improve people\u2019s lives. We focus on techniques that can help people adopt healthy behaviours (e.g. exercising, having quality time, meditating, etc.) and getting rid of negative behaviours (e.g., smoking, procrastinating essential tasks, etc.). Our approach is to design technological interventions that provoke a change. These might be embodied in mobile apps, interactive services or even take a physical form and shape. We see technology as a way to empower humans through new awarenesses and abilities. In our approach, interventions have a limited time span and do not create dependencies.<\/p>\n

June 2020<\/strong> – Ana Davitkova, Agron Idrizi and Florian Cedric Terrier have successfully defended their MScIS theses. Congratulations and good luck on their next adventure!<\/p>\n

May 2020<\/strong> – Alessandro Silacci<\/a> joins our lab to conduct research on persuasive technology and physical activity. Alessandro is in co-supervision with Maurizio Caon<\/a> (School of Management – FR)<\/p>\n

March 2020<\/strong> – Lahari Goswami<\/a> started her PhD with out team. She will be focusing on learning technologies and how to design support for learning environments.<\/p>\n

November 2019<\/strong> – Together with\u00a0K\u00e9vin Huguenin<\/a>, we received funding for 1 year from the\u00a0Swiss National Science Foundation<\/a>\u00a0to work on addressing multi-party privacy conflicts (NudgeMPC<\/a>).<\/p>\n

September 2019<\/strong> – Our lab director got a mention on September’s edition of ICTjournal. He gave his opinion on\u00a0 the role of technological nudges.<\/p>\n

September 2019<\/strong> – James Tyler joins our lab as a PhD Student.<\/p>\n

September 2019<\/strong> – Clarina Sierro has successfully defended her MScIS thesis<\/a>.<\/p>\n

June 2019<\/strong> – Vanessa Morson and Giacomo Longhi have successfully defended their MScIS thesis.<\/p>\n

February 2018<\/span><\/strong> – Khaled Lala is joining us this spring to work on his Master Thesis. He will be studying the reason behind the adoption of and adherence to healthy eating apps.<\/p>\n

February 2018\u00a0<\/strong>– We got a short paper accepted for A Short Workshop on Next Steps Towards Long Term Self Tracking<\/a>\u00a0at CHI’18<\/a>.<\/p>\n

September 2017 –\u00a0<\/strong>Luca Reut joins our lab to begin his master thesis on the topic of Personality and social characteristics of non-technology users during life-changing events. Also, Tolulope Omuku joins our lab to begin her master thesis work on the topic surveying persuasive apps.<\/p>\n

February 2017 –<\/strong> We got a short paper accepted for Mobile Interface Design with Older Adults<\/a>\u00a0Workshop at CHI’17<\/a>.<\/p>\n

January 2017<\/strong> – Gabriela Villalobos-Z\u00fa\u00f1iga joins our lab as a PhD Student researching on persuasive applications for health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n
