{"id":251,"date":"2023-07-10T17:36:47","date_gmt":"2023-07-10T15:36:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/paf\/?page_id=251"},"modified":"2025-10-14T16:58:33","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T14:58:33","slug":"the-facility","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/paf\/the-facility\/","title":{"rendered":"The facility"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">The PAF core facility was created in 2002 thanks to generous contributions from the <strong>University of Lausanne<\/strong> and  the <strong>Leenardts Foundation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Mission and organisation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">The primary mission of the facility is to support the local UNIL\/CHUV research community in the analysis of <strong>proteins <\/strong>and <strong>proteomes<\/strong>.  The Faculty of Biology and Medicine (<strong>FBM<\/strong>) allocates the PAF the resources to acquire state-of-the-art equipment and implement modern proteomics workflows. These are then made available to all FBM research groups without distinction. Like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unil.ch\/fbm\/fr\/home\/menuinst\/recherche\/plateformes.html\">other FBM core facilities<\/a>, the PAF operates on a fee-per-service basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Extended support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">In proteomics, sound experimental design and rigorous data analysis are essential for success. At the PAF we fully support users in these two key phases that preceed and follow bench work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Teaching<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">We provide courses at the Master and postgraduate level to disseminate the knowledge of proteomics technologies among students and researchers (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unil.ch\/eb-mls\/en\/home\/menuinst\/brief-overview.html\">Master MLS<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unil.ch\/eb-mb\/home\/menuinst\/tracks\/immunology--cancer.html\">Master BM<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Networking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">The PAF is member of the Swiss Proteomics Core Facility Network (<a href=\"https:\/\/swisspcf-net.github.io\/\">SwissPCF-NET<\/a>), a network of academic proteomics facilities in Switzerland.
