Aimless morning,<br \/>\nLeading two minds out of their homes.<br \/>\nAnd while hours were colouring,<br \/>\nwe went below the hazy dome.<\/p>\n<p>And as the pines lost their shadows<br \/>\nWe felt the warmth, we heard the cords,<br \/>\nAnd as we went on, Ad agio,<br \/>\nReeds played the wind without discord.<\/p>\n<p>Then I saw them, piercing the air,<br \/>\nAnd knew the aim of my journey :<br \/>\nIn this chancel I may wander,<br \/>\nAnd gaze at its roof, curved and fair.<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<p>With hopes, to the plain, down I went,<br \/>\nEager, my longing had begun.<br \/>\nMeseemed the bells rang in my head,<br \/>\nAs the belfreys did globe the sun.<\/p>\n<p>To the asylum, I arose,<br \/>\nAnd the chalky columns did glow,<br \/>\nThousands of pale moulded roses<br \/>\nUnder the curved arches I saw.<\/p>\n<p>And the stained glass, solemn and high<br \/>\nColoured my mind and flamed my eyes.<br \/>\nAs crumbled hopes were far behind,<br \/>\nI stood under light, mesmerized.<\/p>\n<p>Then, I heard it! Many voices<br \/>\nUndisclosed from the chancel sung,<br \/>\nAll in one solemn mass rejoiced.<br \/>\nFrom the altar it came,<br \/>\nFrom the altar it broke.<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<p>And harmony shattered into hundreds of shades, blinding\u00a0!<br \/>\nAngels, angels\u00a0! Curved and marbled angels,<br \/>\nCame trumpetting down the grounds, and the cathedral tuned to life.<br \/>\nAnd I saw the trancept melt, and I saw the mother, singing,<br \/>\nNearing\u00a0! Out of her frame she went, to gather the symphony.<br \/>\nI heard them, the horses and their marching knights,<br \/>\nFrom the rose they marched and spinned, spinned, spinned around.<br \/>\nBut in my mind, as gravity, harmony died.<br \/>\nAnd all the choirs in my head spread far\u00a0!<br \/>\nGlass crashed, and spread to unleash thin white arrows,<br \/>\nThey pierced the vaults! They pierced the walls and thrones,<br \/>\nAnd turned this heavy shrine,<br \/>\nTurned it! Into a thousand-faces dream.<br \/>\nVisions, delusions, I fell into heaven, and lost it all,<br \/>\nI drank the chimeras, Oh\u00a0! Distant fears\u00a0!<br \/>\nAche and grief dissolved, in this elusive fantasy.<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<p>And all did spread, and all did collide,<br \/>\nIn my own private ceremonial.<br \/>\nI left the altar with elusive pride<br \/>\nAs stars sprinkled the Amarynth sky.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Image: Medieval Town by Water by Karl Freidrich Schinkel.
