The paper shows how one can apply artificial community selection, an approach inspired by genetic algorithms, to &#8220;breed&#8221; communities and find species combinations that are able to degrade pollutants. Huge thanks to all other co-authors: Bj\u00f6rn Vessman, Alice Haym and G\u00e9raldine Alberti who played no small part in getting this project done. It would not have been possible without them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flora also wrote a <a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/454pd989\">&#8220;behind the paper&#8221; blog post<\/a>, revealing the ups and downs we went through to get to the final result.
