{"id":396,"date":"2024-11-26T16:05:12","date_gmt":"2024-11-26T15:05:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/metabolomics\/?page_id=396"},"modified":"2025-05-28T12:24:21","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T10:24:21","slug":"guidelines-for-collaborations-and-scientific-publications","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/metabolomics\/services\/guidelines-for-collaborations-and-scientific-publications\/","title":{"rendered":"Fees &amp; Guidelines for Scientific Publications"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fee-for-service<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The primary goal of the Metabolomics &amp; Lipidomics team is to provide advisory, experimental, and bioinformatics support to research groups conducting metabolomic and lipidomic analyses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">To sustain its activities and upgrade instrumentation, the facility operates on a <strong>fee-for-service<\/strong> basis. Fees vary depending on the type of service and the user&#8217;s affiliation. The catalog of available services includes sample preparation, bioinformatic data processing, quality assessment, and statistical data analysis (for more details, please refer to <strong>Services \/ Workflow<\/strong> section.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">We strongly encourage researchers to request funding for metabolomic analyses when preparing grant applications. The platform coordinator will assist you with the preparation of funding requests, including the choice of analysis to answer your biological questions, experimental design, quote, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Guidelines for Scientific Publications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">For manuscript preparation, the Metabolomics &amp; Lipidomics team will provide:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">1\/ <em>Materials and Methods<\/em> section relevant to the performed experiments<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">2\/ Supplementary tables with processed data in formats accepted by most journals<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">3\/ Raw data, if required<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Remark:<\/em> We can assist our users with data analysis (basic statistical analysis) and interpretation in a biochemically relevant context (metabolite set enrichment analysis, pathway analysis). This consulting is optional and free of charge, as it is in our best interest that the data we have generated are utilized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Acknowledgements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">At a minimum, the work performed by the Metabolomics &amp; Lipidomics team should be acknowledged in publications that present or use the data generated by the facility. The acknowledgement may be worded as follows or adapted depending on the contributions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cWe thank the Metabolomics and Lipidomics team at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine, University of Lausanne, Switzerland, for metabolomic\/lipidomic\/metabolite analysis.\u201d<\/em><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">No specific person names need to be listed, unless desired by the author.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-larger-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Authorship<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">We follow the authorship guidelines established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). According to these guidelines, if scientists from the Metabolomics &amp; Lipidomics team have made significant contributions to the design of experiments, conducted non-standard analyses, interpreted data, or any combination of these, they should be considered for co-authorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">In such cases, the team members should be involved in drafting or critically revising the manuscript and should give final approval of the version to be published.
