Debra Hausladen is currently focusing on redox coupling between reactive metal species (e.g., Mn) and carbon cycling. She is fascinated by the molecular interactions between microbes, minerals and organic matter in natural systems and enjoys linking mechanistic insights to ecosystem-scale processes. She completed her PhD in Soil and Environmental Biogeochemistry with Prof. Scott Fendorf at Stanford University before moving to Lausanne. She also holds a B.A in Geoscience from Wellesley College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My research interests are in the understanding of the dynamics and fate of contaminant metals in waters and soils. I previously did a post-doc in the University of Bordeaux on the biogeochemistry of platinum in coastal environments. Before that I was an Assistant Lecturer in the University of Rennes. I obtained my PhD from the university of Rennes (France) in 2015 on the interactions between arsenic, iron and organic matter in anoxic environments. I am now working on the mechanism of arsenic removal from water in the presence of manganese using an iron electrocoagulation system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
