La ville d\u2019Ath\u00e8nes est surtout connue pour son \u00e9clat de l\u2019\u00e9poque classique (Ve-IVe si\u00e8cles), incarn\u00e9 par le Parth\u00e9non, le philosophe Socrate, ou encore le strat\u00e8ge P\u00e9ricl\u00e8s. Or, cette apog\u00e9e classique est le fruit d\u2019un processus long et complexe, dont les origines remontent \u00e0 la Pr\u00e9histoire (4000-1050 avant notre \u00e8re).<\/p>\n

Encore tr\u00e8s peu \u00e9tudi\u00e9e, cette p\u00e9riode est aujourd\u2019hui \u00e9clair\u00e9e par des d\u00e9couvertes remarquables r\u00e9alis\u00e9es lors de fouilles de sauvetage conduites par le Minist\u00e8re de la Culture hell\u00e9nique depuis 20 ans. Pour la premi\u00e8re fois, cet ouvrage fait le point sur ces r\u00e9centes trouvailles – pour la plupart in\u00e9dites – et propose un \u00e9tat de la question exhaustif et novateur qui s\u2019appuie sur les derni\u00e8res avanc\u00e9es arch\u00e9ologiques.<\/p>\n

Ce volume co\u00e9dit\u00e9 par Sylvian Fachard (Institut d’arch\u00e9ologie et des sciences de l’antiquit\u00e9<\/a>, \u00c9cole suisse d’arch\u00e9ologie en Gr\u00e8ce<\/a>), fait suite \u00e0 une conf\u00e9rence tenue \u00e0 Ath\u00e8nes en 2015. Il jette un nouvel \u00e9clairage sur l’Attique et ce qui deviendra plus tard la polis<\/em> des Ath\u00e9nien\u00b7ne\u00b7s.<\/p>\n
