Comment les cit\u00e9s grecques prot\u00e9geaient-elles leurs\u00a0habitant\u00b7e\u00b7s\u00a0?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Situ\u00e9e sur l’\u00eele d’Eub\u00e9e, la cit\u00e9 antique d\u2019\u00c9r\u00e9trie englobait l\u2019un des plus vastes territoires du monde grec. Les fortifications prot\u00e9geant cet espace agricole et \u00e9conomique t\u00e9moignent\u00a0de l\u2019ins\u00e9curit\u00e9 \u00e0 laquelle il fut constamment confront\u00e9. Comme le d\u00e9montre cette recherche sur la d\u00e9fense de l\u2019\u00ab \u00c9r\u00e9triade\u00a0\u00bb, sa s\u00e9curit\u00e9 reposait sur un r\u00e9seau d\u2019habitats fortifi\u00e9s prot\u00e9geant les habitant\u00b7e\u00b7s et leurs biens et offrant des lieux s\u00fbrs pour entreposer les r\u00e9coltes et abriter les animaux.<\/p>\n

Divis\u00e9 en deux parties et onze chapitres, ce volume offre un \u00e9tat de la question sur le r\u00e9seau routier, les fronti\u00e8res, la population et les ressources agricoles du territoire d\u2019\u00c9r\u00e9trie.\u00a0Richement illustr\u00e9, le catalogue des fortifications est accompagn\u00e9 de plans et de relev\u00e9s in\u00e9dits (recensant 183 sites entre Kastri et Marmari). Ainsi, en d\u00e9passant le cadre de la g\u00e9ographie historique, l\u2019auteur appr\u00e9hende la cit\u00e9 dans sa globalit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Futur directeur de l’\u00c9cole suisse d’arch\u00e9ologie en Gr\u00e8ce<\/a>\u00a0(d\u00e8s avril 2021), Sylvian Fachard (Institut d’arch\u00e9ologie et des sciences de l’antiquit\u00e9<\/a>) apporte dans ce volume tir\u00e9 de sa th\u00e8se de doctorat un nouvel\u00a0\u00e9clairage sur la d\u00e9fense des territoires dans la Gr\u00e8ce des cit\u00e9s.<\/p>\n
