Son \u0153uvre doit \u00eatre localis\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0entre les langues et les litt\u00e9ratures nationales\u00a0\u00bb. Ce constat est \u00e9tay\u00e9 par son anglais hybride et par les nombreuses traces de litt\u00e9ratures non am\u00e9ricaines que l&rsquo;on trouve dans ses textes et auxquelles cette \u00e9tude accorde une attention particuli\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019ouvrage de Robert Leucht (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unil.ch\/all\/fr\/home.html\">Section d\u2019allemand<\/a>) retrace le d\u00e9veloppement de la recherche sur la litt\u00e9rature autrichienne en exil et dresse le portrait de l\u2019\u0153uvre litt\u00e9raire d\u2019Abish en la repla\u00e7ant dans le contexte d\u2019\u0153uvres d\u2019autres auteurs exil\u00e9s (Aharon Appelfeld, Erich Fried, Ruth Kl\u00fcger).<\/p>\n<p>Un grand nombre de textes d\u2019Abish \u2013 souvent attribu\u00e9s au postmodernisme am\u00e9ricain \u00a0\u2013 sont marqu\u00e9s par la tentative de combiner des styles d\u2019\u00e9criture exp\u00e9rimentale avec la repr\u00e9sentation du national-socialisme. C&rsquo;est le cas en particulier du roman prim\u00e9 <em>How German Is It.
