Les diff\u00e9rentes contributions de cet ouvrage collectif portent sur la p\u00e9riode allant de l’Antiquit\u00e9 tardive au Haut Moyen \u00c2ge (de 300 \u00e0 800) en Suisse occidentale. Les articles abordent les\u00a0agglom\u00e9rations, l\u2019habitat rural et les n\u00e9cropoles d\u2019Avenches (Vaud), de Colombier (Neuch\u00e2tel), de Vallon (Fribourg), du Valais, et du Tessin. L’ouvrage traite \u00e9galement des trouvailles mon\u00e9taires, des textiles, de la c\u00e9ramique et de la sid\u00e9rurgie.<\/p>\n

Ce volume codirig\u00e9 par Michel E. Fuchs (Institut d’arch\u00e9ologie et des sciences de l’Antiquit\u00e9<\/a>) r\u00e9unit une partie des interventions au colloque\u00a0organis\u00e9 par l\u2019Association pour l\u2019arch\u00e9ologie romaine en Suisse (ARS) et le Groupe de travail suisse pour l\u2019arch\u00e9ologie du Moyen \u00c2ge et de l\u2019\u00e9poque moderne (SAM), tenu \u00e0 Berne en mars 2001. L’ouvrage contient une introduction et une synth\u00e8se conclusive fournies, augment\u00e9es d\u2019un bilan sur les sources \u00e9crites li\u00e9es \u00e0 la p\u00e9riode envisag\u00e9e.<\/p>\n
