La \u00ab\u00a0Doctrine of the Hert\u00a0\u00bb \u00e9tait la traduction anglaise du XVe si\u00e8cle de De doctrina cordis<\/em>, le trait\u00e9 de d\u00e9votion en latin du XIIIe si\u00e8cle destin\u00e9 aux religieuses.<\/p>\n

Best-seller\u00a0<\/em>religieux, ce texte a circul\u00e9 dans toute l\u2019Europe entre les XIIIe et XVe si\u00e8cles et a \u00e9t\u00e9 traduit en six langues diff\u00e9rentes. Il associe progressivement les sept dons du Saint-Esprit \u00e0 sept actions cl\u00e9s du c\u0153ur, conduisant les lecteurs vers l’unit\u00e9 contemplative avec Dieu.<\/p>\n

Malgr\u00e9 sa popularit\u00e9 m\u00e9di\u00e9vale, ce texte a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s peu \u00e9tudi\u00e9 par les chercheurs\u00b7euses. Le volume co\u00e9dit\u00e9 par Denis Renevey et Christiania Whitehead, tous deux \u00e0 la Section d’anglais<\/a>\u00a0et au Centre d’\u00e9tudes m\u00e9di\u00e9vales et post-m\u00e9di\u00e9vales (CEMEP)<\/a>, rend disponible pour la premi\u00e8re fois une \u00e9dition critique de \u00ab\u00a0The Doctrine of the Hert\u00a0\u00bb, accompagn\u00e9e par une introduction qui examine non seulement les id\u00e9es actuelles sur les origines du texte et ses destinataires, mais tire \u00e9galement parti des avanc\u00e9es scientifiques r\u00e9centes dans la compr\u00e9hension de la spiritualit\u00e9 f\u00e9minine du haut Moyen \u00c2ge.<\/p>\n
