Les \u00e9coles, les acad\u00e9mies, les compagnies les plus graves ressemblent \u00e0 l\u2019apothicaire Arnoud\u00a0\u00bb. Lorsque Voltaire \u00e9crit ces lignes en 1768, cela fait un si\u00e8cle que le mot charlatan poss\u00e8de le sens figur\u00e9 de \u00ab\u00a0trompeur, manipulateur\u00a0\u00bb, tout en conservant son sens initial qui renvoie \u00e0 une pratique non acad\u00e9mique de la m\u00e9decine.<\/p>\n<p>Qu\u2019il soit faux m\u00e9decin ou imposteur quelconque, le charlatan a partie li\u00e9e avec la mise en sc\u00e8ne de soi et l\u2019usage d\u2019une parole artificieuse. L\u2019arracheur de dents ou le vendeur de drogues s\u2019entourent de farceurs et de musiciens : l\u2019empirisme m\u00e9dical est un spectacle.
