En Europe, la citoyennet\u00e9 n&rsquo;est plus limit\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9tat-nation, elle se d\u00e9ploie \u00e0 plusieurs niveaux (citoyennet\u00e9 nationale, europ\u00e9enne et cosmopolitique). La tendance vers l&rsquo;ouverture et le d\u00e9placement des fronti\u00e8res contraste avec le souci des \u00c9tats de restreindre rigoureusement l&rsquo;immigration et la nationalisation de migrant\u00b7e\u00b7s provenant de pays non-occidentaux, souvent sur la base de crit\u00e8res nationaux ataviques qui peuvent para\u00eetre arbitraires.<\/p>\n<p>Ce volume, dirig\u00e9 par Simone Zurbuchen (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unil.ch\/philo\/home.html\">Section de philosophie<\/a>), r\u00e9pond \u00e0 l&rsquo;initiative de Joseph H. Carens, chercheur pionnier en \u00e9thique de la migration, de repenser les enjeux de l&rsquo;immigration et de la citoyennet\u00e9 \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re des principes de libert\u00e9 et d&rsquo;\u00e9galit\u00e9, qui sont au fondement des d\u00e9mocraties occidentales.
