Comment la traduction des contes est-elle devenue matrice d’\u00e9criture chez Angela Carter ?<\/strong><\/p>\n

En traduisant en anglais les Histoires ou Contes du temps pass\u00e9\u00a0<\/em>(1697) de Charles Perrault, Angela Carter (1940-1992) a cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 moderniser la langue et le message des contes avant de r\u00e9\u00e9crire plusieurs d’entre eux pour sa propre collection de contes dans The Bloody Chamber\u00a0<\/em>(1979).<\/p>\n

Martine Hennard Dutheil de la Roch\u00e8re\u00a0(Section d’anglais<\/a>) montre comment ce projet de traduction a eu un impact significatif sur la propre pratique d\u2019\u00e9criture de la romanci\u00e8re anglaise. L\u2019auteure analyse les liens sp\u00e9cifiques entre la traduction des contes de Perrault par Carter et ses propres versions dans The Bloody Chamber<\/em>. Elle y \u00e9tudie notamment les r\u00e9cits du Chaperon Rouge, de Barbe Bleue, du Chat Bott\u00e9, de La Belle et la B\u00eate (d\u2019apr\u00e8s Beaumont), de La Belle au Bois Dormant et de Cendrillon.<\/p>\n

Alors que la critique voit dans la d\u00e9marche de Carter la\u00a0volont\u00e9 de subvertir les contes de f\u00e9es classiques, cet ouvrage d\u00e9fend que la romanci\u00e8re retravaille ces \u00ab\u00a0fables de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience\u00a0\u00bb dans une vis\u00e9e f\u00e9ministe qui fait de la lecture un outil d\u2019\u00e9mancipation.<\/p>\n
