En 1938, Paul Val\u00e9ry rend hommage \u00e0 la main du chirurgien, mais c\u2019est aussi celle de l\u2019artiste. La main-appareil n\u2019est pas un appareil de repr\u00e9sentation, mais davantage encore: un appareil de pr\u00e9sentification, comme le souligne Herman Parret, qui voit en Val\u00e9ry la promesse d\u2019une \u00abhypoth\u00e8se haptologique\u00bb en art. Une telle promesse redistribue les niveaux d\u2019analyse du toucher entre optique, tactile et haptique qui s’entrecroisent alors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alors que le mod\u00e8le de la vision est en quelque sorte sursollicit\u00e9 (par les visual studies<\/em>, par le \u00abtournant iconique\u00bb), le toucher retrouve, en un apparent paradoxe, une importance certaine, sorte de sens-refuge alors que le monde visuel semble de plus en plus virtualis\u00e9 ou simul\u00e9. Se confrontant \u00e0 des mat\u00e9rialit\u00e9s tr\u00e8s diverses \u2013 papier, tissu, peinture, \u00e9mulsion photosensible, sucre et chocolat \u2013, mais aussi \u00e0 des objets tr\u00e8s vari\u00e9s \u2013 statue, vitrine de verre, photogramme, g\u00e2teau d\u00e9cor\u00e9, tableau, roman \u2013 les contributions de ce dossier, dirig\u00e9 par L\u00e9a Jusseau, Carole Maign\u00e9, Neda Zanetti (Section de philosophie<\/a>), se retrouvent toutes \u00e0 reconsid\u00e9rer le toucher comme un sens bien plus polyvalent qu\u2019il n\u2019y para\u00eet, bien plus abstrait et appareill\u00e9 qu\u2019on ne l\u2019imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
