L\u2019ouvrage r\u00e9unit des contributions de sp\u00e9cialistes de linguistique litt\u00e9raire et propose une approche de stylistique historique de l’anglais, en consid\u00e9rant les d\u00e9veloppements de la langue et le contexte dans lequel s\u2019inscrivent les textes.<\/p>\n

Le volume rassemble des \u00e9tudes allant de l’emploi de \u00ab\u00a0and\u00a0\u00bb comme conjonction conditionnelle au Moyen \u00c2ge aux corrections apport\u00e9es par Virginia Woolf dans ses \u00e9bauches \u00e0\u00a0Mrs Dalloway<\/em>\u00a0(1925), en passant par les variations aux normes linguistiques du XVIIIe si\u00e8cle dans l’\u0153uvre de Jane Austen, la rh\u00e9torique des \u00e9crits \u00e9pistolaires de Lady Elizabeth Tudor ou l\u2019utilisation des parenth\u00e8ses par Shakespeare.<\/p>\n

Les diff\u00e9rentes approches rassembl\u00e9es dans ce volume, co\u00e9dit\u00e9 par Anita Auer (Section d’anglais<\/a>), apportent un \u00e9clairage sur l\u2019\u00e9tude de l\u2019histoire de la langue anglaise, le style litt\u00e9raire et l\u2019analyse linguistique. Ces m\u00e9langes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9dig\u00e9s en l\u2019honneur de la Prof. Sylvia Adamson.<\/p>\n
