Il donne une br\u00e8ve pr\u00e9sentation de seize \u00e9coles philosophiques indiennes. Pourtant, l&rsquo;\u00e9tude de ce texte cl\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 n\u00e9glig\u00e9e en raison de sa difficult\u00e9, si bien qu\u2019il est source de nombreux malentendus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans cet ouvrage, Johannes Bronkhorst (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unil.ch\/slas\/fr\/home.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.unil.ch\/slas\/fr\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Section de langues et civilisations slaves et de l&rsquo;Asie du Sud<\/a>) cherche \u00e0 lever les myst\u00e8res qui entourent ce texte. Il s\u2019int\u00e9resse notamment au dernier chapitre, consacr\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019Advaita Ved\u0101nta, dont il n\u2019est pas certain qu\u2019il fasse partie du texte original. Le nom de son auteur est tout aussi incertain. On a g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement suppos\u00e9 s\u2019agissait de S\u0101ya\u1e47a, un c\u00e9l\u00e8bre commentateur, fr\u00e8re du tout aussi c\u00e9l\u00e8bre M\u0101dhava. Toutefois, une \u00e9tude plus approfondie montre que cette affirmation est tr\u00e8s probablement erron\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La discussion sur ce que le texte entend par \u00abphilosophie\u00bb (dar\u015bana) nous en dit long sur la mani\u00e8re dont son auteur (et les auteurs indiens de cette \u00e9poque en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral) conceptualisait la pens\u00e9e philosophique. La question de savoir si la philosophie doit \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme \u00e9ternelle ou si elle peut laisser une place \u00e0 la pens\u00e9e originale est trait\u00e9e dans un chapitre s\u00e9par\u00e9.
