Ch\u00e9chonq, grand pr\u00eatre de Ptah et membre de la famille royale de la XXIIe dynastie, est d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 vers 830 avant notre \u00e8re. Trouv\u00e9e intacte \u00e0 Memphis en 1942, sa s\u00e9pulture constitue l\u2019une des rares tombes d\u00e9cor\u00e9es de la Troisi\u00e8me P\u00e9riode interm\u00e9diaire et a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9plac\u00e9e au Mus\u00e9e \u00e9gyptien du Caire peu apr\u00e8s sa d\u00e9couverte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Issu d\u2019un projet de recherche de l’Institut fran\u00e7ais d’arch\u00e9ologie orientale du Caire<\/a> en collaboration avec Sorbonne-Universit\u00e9, cet ouvrage de Giuseppina Lenzo (Institut d’arch\u00e9ologie et des sciences de l’Antiquit\u00e9<\/a>), Rapha\u00eble Meffre et Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Payraudeau est consacr\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019analyse de la tombe et du mat\u00e9riel fun\u00e9raire, riche d\u2019environ 400 objets, qui accompagnait Ch\u00e9chonq.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019\u00e9tude des sc\u00e8nes et des textes fun\u00e9raires grav\u00e9s sur les parois de la s\u00e9pulture a permis de mettre en \u00e9vidence des similarit\u00e9s avec ceux de la tombe du pharaon Osorkon II \u00e0 Tanis (NRT I), ainsi qu\u2019avec le papyrus th\u00e9bain de Nestanebetich\u00e9rou, fille du grand pr\u00eatre d\u2019Amon Pinedjem II, conserv\u00e9 au British Museum (Papyrus Greenfield). Quant au mobilier fun\u00e9raire, conserv\u00e9 au Mus\u00e9e \u00e9gyptien du Caire, au Mus\u00e9e de Suez et \u00e0 la Facult\u00e9 des Arts d\u2019Alexandrie, il repr\u00e9sente un t\u00e9moignage remarquable des objets emport\u00e9s dans leur tombe par les membres de l\u2019\u00e9lite \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
