Que nous apprend le genre gothique sur la guerre\u00a0? En quoi le gothique est-il un genre adapt\u00e9 \u00e0 la critique de la guerre\u00a0?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Depuis l\u2019\u00e9mergence de la culture gothique \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque de la Guerre de Sept Ans au XVIIIe\u00a0si\u00e8cle, le genre gothique entretient un lien \u00e9troit avec la guerre. De la figure du zombie, visage du soldat hant\u00e9 par la guerre, au corps d\u00e9sarticul\u00e9, montrant la d\u00e9shumanisation des combats, le genre gothique engage une r\u00e9flexion critique sur la guerre et\u00a0les cons\u00e9quences traumatiques qu’elle g\u00e9n\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

Les contributions internationales de cet ouvrage explorent la relation entre la culture populaire gothique et la guerre, de la Guerre de S\u00e9cession \u00e0 la guerre contre le terrorisme. Les \u00e9tudes m\u00ealent litt\u00e9rature, cin\u00e9ma, peinture, bande dessin\u00e9e, litt\u00e9rature de jeunesse et jeux vid\u00e9os. On y parle notamment des films The Best Years of Our Lives<\/em> et Full Metal Jacket\u00a0<\/em>; des jeux vid\u00e9os Call of Duty<\/em> ou Bio Shock Infinite<\/em> et d\u2019Harry Potter.<\/em><\/p>\n

Ce volume, \u00e9dit\u00e9 par Agnieszka Soltysik Monnet\u00a0(Section d’anglais<\/a>, membre de l\u2019International Gothic Association) et Steffen Hantke (Universit\u00e9 de S\u00e9oul), montre que le gothique traduit les d\u00e9g\u00e2ts physiques et psychologiques de la violence des combats.<\/p>\n
