\"\"<\/td>Clara Margot Heiman – Master & PhD student and Postdoctoral Research Fellow<\/strong>

Clara joined the Keel group in February 2018 to carry out her Master project within the Master program in Molecular Life Sciences<\/a> of the University of Lausanne. In January 2019, she obtained<\/a> the Prize of the Faculty<\/a> of Biology and Medicine for her outstanding master work. Clara then started a PhD thesis in May 2019 to investigate bacterial factors involved in competitiveness and insect pathogenicity, focusing on contractile phage tail-related devices, notably tailocins. In early 2024, she received the Prix de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Acad\u00e9mique Vaudoise<\/a> for her outstanding Ph.D. thesis. She then stayed as a PostDoc in the lab until May 2025.<\/td><\/tr>
\"daniel<\/td>Daniel Garrido-Sanz – Postdoctoral Research Fellow<\/strong>

Daniel joined the Keel lab in January 2021 as PostDoc to work on a project on how inoculant introduction interacts within the resident root microbiome of crops within the NCCR Microbiomes<\/a>. He developed highly regarded approaches to study the structure, function and dynamics of soil and rhizosphere microbiomes, revealing the crucial importance of seed-associated microbes during early stages of plant root microbiome establishment. In May 2025, he started his own lab, the Ecology of Plant-Microbiomes Lab<\/a> at the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid, Spain.<\/td><\/tr>
\"\"<\/td>No\u00e9mie Poli – Research Intern<\/strong>

No\u00e9mie did a Master in Environmental Biology at the University of Fribourg<\/a> from 2021-2023. She joined the Keel lab in October 2023 for a research internship during which she investigated bacterial isolates from the plant rhizosphere for phenotypic and genomic characteristics.<\/td><\/tr>
\"\"<\/td>G\u00e9raldine Menoud – Master student<\/strong>

G\u00e9raldine joined the Keel lab in February 2024 to carry out her First-step project within the Master program in Molecular Life Sciences<\/a> of the University of Lausanne. Her project explored the role of a large bacterial toxin in the zebrafish and insect pathogenicity of Pseudomonas<\/em> isolates. The project is carried out in collaboration with Kinki Jim<\/a> from the Veening lab.<\/td><\/tr>
\"\"<\/td>Nadine Harmsen – SNSF Junior Researcher<\/strong>

Nadine did a Master in Biology with specialisation in Microbiology and Immunology at the ETH Zurich from 2021-2023. She joined the the Keel lab in June 2023 as SNSF Junior Researcher to work in a European BiodivERsA network project<\/a> on how disease suppressive soils and their microbial communities can affect the performance of emerging fungal pathogens and pest insects.<\/td><\/tr>

Ursina joined the lab of Prof. Niko Geldner<\/a>  at the Department of Molecular Plant Biology and our lab as a PhD candidate on a Gebert-R\u00fcf Microbials joint project with the research group of  Prof. Harm-Anton Klok<\/a> at EPFL to visualise bacterial chemotaxis and vectoring of nano particles towards plant roots.<\/p> <\/td><\/tr>

Pilar performed her PhD thesis in the Plant Pathology – Biological Control group at ETH Z\u00fcrich<\/a> where she focused on the molecular traits involved in the interaction of plant-beneficial Pseudomonas<\/em> bacteria with insects. \"Maria\"<\/td>Maria P\u00e9chyne Tarr – Senior researcher<\/strong>

Maria holds a PhD in Biochemistry. She joined the DMF in 1998 as research assistant of Prof. Dieter Haas. In September 2003 she moved to the Keel group. Maria made major contributions to various projects aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in interaction of plant-beneficial pseudomonads with plants and pest insects.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>

\"\"<\/td>Pascale Flury – Postdoctoral Research Fellow<\/strong>

Pascale finished her Master studies in Plant Sciences at the University of Basel with a thesis on plant innate immunity 2011 in the group of Prof. Thomas Boller<\/a><\/span>. In 2012, she joined the group of Dr. Monika Maurhofer at ETH Zuric<\/span>h<\/a><\/span> as a PhD student in the Plant Science Center PhD Program Science & Policy<\/span><\/a> <\/span>(degree in November 2016). She then joined the Keel lab for one year to work within the National Research Program NRP 68 Phase II<\/span><\/a> <\/span>on Soil as a Resource. Pascale studied  combinations of beneficial pseudomonads and entomopathogenic nematodes formulated in alginate-based beads for root pest control. She is now senior researcher at the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL<\/span>)<\/a><\/span>.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>

\"Nicola<\/td>Nicola Imperiali – PhD Student<\/strong>

Nicola joined the Keel lab in February 2012 to carry out his Master project within the Master program in Molecular Life Sciences<\/a> (degree in 2013). He then started his PhD work within the National research program NRP 68<\/a> <\/span>on Soil as a Resource. Nicola developed FACS-based approaches to study the influence of soil types and agricultural practices on the expression of plant-beneficial  traits in root-associated pseudomonads. He was also involved in field testing of the beneficial microorganisms for pest control in Switzerland and in the USA. He successfully defended his PhD thesis in May 2018.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>
