After many years of faithful service, Serval will be decommissioned at the end of August and replaced by IRIS, the new research information system. From the end of August, publications will be entered exclusively in IRIS.
IRIS is starting by hosting publications, but its evolution is already underway. The first improvements will focus on enriching researcher profiles, followed by the integration of projects, funding and calls for projects. New functions will gradually be added to simplify research management.
A major advantage: once you have familiarised yourself with the IRIS interface for publications, all new entities (projects, funding, etc.) will work in the same way. No more multiple entries in different systems: IRIS will centralise this information and make it easier to manage.
Serval is dead, long live IRIS!
How can I prepare?
- Check your draft records and publish those you wish to migrate to IRIS. Draft records will not be included. Refer to our text tutorial (https://wp.unil.ch/infoserval/archives/1737?lang=en) and video tutorial to learn how to proceed.
- Check the links in your publications. Many errors in IRIS are caused by incorrect links in Serval. Ensure that your publications are correctly attributed to you. Here is additional text (https://wp.unil.ch/infoserval/archives/1769?lang=en) and video assistance to help you do so.
- Register to the information session to find out all about the transition.
- Check out IRIS help to better understand how it works.
- Register to one of our trainings to master the use of IRIS.
IRIS marks a new stage in research management at UNIL. To take full advantage of this transition, we encourage you to anticipate the necessary checks and take advantage of the resources available to you. Our team is mobilized to accompany you step by step through this migration: guides, tutorials, training and information sessions are there to support you every step of the way!
