{"id":626,"date":"2020-02-02T16:32:26","date_gmt":"2020-02-02T15:32:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/ice\/?p=626"},"modified":"2020-02-02T16:32:26","modified_gmt":"2020-02-02T15:32:26","slug":"visit-to-the-ktb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/ice\/2020\/02\/visit-to-the-ktb\/","title":{"rendered":"Visit to the KTB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the recently started ERC project\u00a0<em>ICED<\/em>, Georgina and Lily visited to the KTB borehole, Windinscheschenbach (Bavaria) to collect a range of calibration samples. The KTB borehole was drilled between 1987 and 1995 reaching a depth of 9 km and temperatures of over 300 \u00b0C. Because this region has been tectonically stable over 10s of millions of years, these samples have experienced stable temperatures and thus provide an excellent calibration set for thermochronometry.
