Mathias Thoenig is a professor of Economics at HEC Lausanne, University of Lausanne, an associate editor of the Journal of European Economic Association and a CEPR research fellow in the international trade and macro programs.
His research focuses on macro development, international trade and political economy. His current interests deal with:
The estimation/calibration of trade models in presence of non-Pareto distributed heterogeneous firms
The economics of ethnic conflicts and the study of the interaction between economic exchanges and war
His work is published in the leading academic journals, including American Economic Review, Journal of European Economic Association, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies. His expertise has been regularly solicited by the World Bank and the IMF.
