Bio
Marianne Schmid Mast is Full Professor of Organizational Behavior and Dean at HEC Lausanne, University of Lausanne.
After receiving her PhD in Psychology from the University of Zurich in 2000, she continued her research at Northeastern University, USA, with an SNSF postdoctoral fellowship. Back in Switzerland, she has worked at the University of Fribourg, then Neuchatel.
Her research focuses on social interactions, verbal and nonverbal communication, power hierarchies, the formation of impressions of others, and the influence of physician communication on patient outcomes. She uses immersive virtual environment technology to investigate interpersonal behavior and communication as well as computer-based automatic sensing to analyze nonverbal behavior. She currently is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Nonverbal Behavior.
