This workshop will be lead by Dr. Ann Rowan from the University of Sheffield, UK and is organised by the FGSE Commission de l\u2019\u00e9galit\u00e9. <\/p>\n\n\n\n


Fieldwork is an important part of teaching in Geography and the Earth and Environmental Sciences that can add value to a student\u2019s career progression. Making field classes as accessible as possible requires taking an enabling approach to planning, from the location of the\u00a0field class to details of the daily schedule, to promote the progression of a diverse cohort of students. However, such changes can be difficult to implement without a wider understanding of the diverse needs of students and researchers\u00a0and how these affect their ability to learn in the field. This workshop will explore how to make fieldwork inclusive and enabling for both taught field classes and graduate student research projects.
The workshop will comprise a short lecture followed by a panel discussion and break-out exercises in smaller working groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
