Integrating principles of geostatistics, data-mining, and image analysis, MPS allows simulating the output of complex processes, relying on data-pattern analysis. Ideal applications are processes exhibiting complex data structures, difficult to represent with classic statistical models. The MPS approach is highly creative and raises the challenge of finding the appropriate model structure by integrating multiple sources of information, benefiting from expert knowledge and last-generation data products.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BIOGRAPHY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After graduating in geosciences at the University of Milan, I specialized in stochastic hydroclimatology at the Center of Hydrogeology in Neuch\u00e2tel. I opened up a new methodological path for the stochastic simulation of climate variables based on Multiple-Point Statistics. After my PhD, I have collaborated with governmental and research institutions, including the Water Research Center (WRC, Sydney) and the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS, Copenhagen).
