Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions about this project (<a href=\"mailto:fertile-decisions@unil.ch\">fertile-decisions@unil.ch)<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This study is being conducted as part of a research project led by Prof. Irene Becci of the Institute of Social Sciences of Religion at the University of Lausanne. The four-year research project is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Project objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The social science research project \u201cFertile Decisions?\u201d aims to understand how couples facing infertility or the need to undergo assisted reproductive technology (ART) to have children in Switzerland experience this process and make decisions about it, taking into account their values, beliefs, and rituals, be their religious or spiritual or any of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Objectives of the online survey&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the project, the online questionnaire aims to gather information on how ART is experienced by a large number of people in Switzerland in order to gain an overall picture of the diversity of these experiences. In particular, it collects information regarding:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>perceptions, beliefs, values, motivations, limitations, disappointments and expectations;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The extent to which these perceptions, beliefs and values do or do not influence the way ART is experienced;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The sources of motivation found and the support seeked;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The role, or lack thereof, played by alternative, spiritual or religious practices during this experience;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some socio-demographic data and some practical information of the treatment (duration, level of involvement).&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Methodology used for the online questionnaire&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No collection of personal identity details and automatic pseudonymisation: No surname, first name, address or personal contact details are requested when completing the questionnaire. Upon submission, your responses are assigned a code. It will therefore be impossible to link a specific questionnaire to an individual. No IP addresses are recorded.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Secure and protected storage of your data: your data will be stored on a secure server (Tresorit); it will only be accessible to the research team and will not be shared in its raw form with anyone else.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Data analysis: Responses will be analysed in an aggregated and systematic manner using specialised software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De-identification of sensitive data: Information that could potentially identify you (for example, by cross-referencing socio-demographic data) is aggregated so that it is impossible to identify an individual from the data. If any collected data remains potentially identifiable (e.g. a unique number of children), it will be deleted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deletion of raw data: At the time of analysis, your data will be aggregated. Your raw data will then be deleted and your aggregated data will be retained for ten years before being archived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The time required to complete the questionnaire is estimated at approximately 15 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Study population and distribution of the questionnaire&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People facing infertility or the need to undergo medical treatment to conceive, and who are resident in Switzerland, are invited to participate;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The questionnaire is being distributed via medically assisted reproduction and sexual health centres, specialist associations, networks of gynaecologists, and via social media (LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram). These announcements and the questionnaire are published in five languages (French, German, Italian, English and Portuguese) to ensure linguistic representativeness.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Benefits and risks<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are no medical or physical risks involved in taking part. However, answering questions about infertility and\/or assisted reproductive technology (ART) may be emotionally sensitive. The research will not provide you with any direct benefit, but it will contribute to a better understanding of the experience of infertility and\/or ART in Switzerland. No remuneration is provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scientific dissemination and data protection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results will be disseminated in the form of scientific publications, conferences, etc. Only pseudonymised and aggregated data will be used. If there is any doubt regarding the risk of identification, for example by cross-referencing certain socio-demographic data, we will not publish the potentially identifying information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reporting of research results&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The survey results will be communicated in various forms (articles, conferences, books). Due to the strict confidentiality of the questionnaire, it will not be possible to send individual copies of the publications to participants, nor to invite them to specific presentations. However, the results will be publicly accessible via website of the research project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to take part<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Access to the questionnaire: A QR code and\/or a link has been sent to you to access the online questionnaire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note: This link provides access to the questionnaire&nbsp;<strong>only.&nbsp;<\/strong>Unless you complete a separate form to take part in an interview, you will not be contacted further or asked to take part in interviews.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Completing the questionnaire: You can complete it at your own pace, with no immediate time pressure. You are free to refuse to answer certain questions or stop the questionnaire at any time, without having to give a reason.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submission: Once the questionnaire has been submitted, your data will be stored securely. You will no longer be able to change your answers after submission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Right to withdraw and freedom to participate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participation in this research is entirely voluntary.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You may decide not to complete the questionnaire without giving any reason.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the questionnaire has been submitted, it is no longer possible to withdraw your data, as it has been immediately and automatically pseudonymised. There is no longer any link between your answers and your identity, making any withdrawal or modification impossible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Confidential processing and pseudonymisation of data<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this study, your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Data coding:<\/strong>&nbsp;Upon submission, a unique code (e.g. Q_2026_005) is assigned to the responses. This code does not allow the participant\u2019s identity to be traced.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Secure storage of raw data:<\/strong>&nbsp;The raw data from this questionnaire is stored on Tr\u00e9sorit and is accessible only to members of the research team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Retention period:<\/strong>&nbsp;The data will be retained for ten years, in accordance with institutional requirements, before the aggregated data is archived in accordance with current procedures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Participation in an interview or other part of the research<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you would like to meet us for an interview, you can register via the hyperlink at the end of the survey, or by writing to us at&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:fertile-decisions@unil.ch\">fertile-decisions@unil.ch<\/a>.
