Il a men\u00e9 sa th\u00e8se, soutenue en novembre 2010, sous la direction du Prof. Jean-Philippe Leresche de l&rsquo;Observatoire science, politique, soci\u00e9t\u00e9.\u00a0 Il est actuellement responsable de missions strat\u00e9giques \u00e0 la Direction g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de l\u2019enseignement sup\u00e9rieur au sein du DFJC de l\u2019Etat de Vaud.<!--more--><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Cette th\u00e8se de doctorat s\u2019int\u00e9resse \u00e0 un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne r\u00e9cent de l\u2019enseignement sup\u00e9rieur europ\u00e9en, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire la r\u00e9forme du doctorat. Essentiellement bas\u00e9e sur huit \u00e9tudes de cas (soit huit \u00e9coles doctorales suisses et norv\u00e9giennes ainsi que leurs contextes institutionnel, national et international), elle s\u2019interroge sur les changements intervenus dans la nature et la gouvernance du doctorat.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019analyse empirique inclut des entretiens avec une centaine d\u2019interlocuteurs, tandis que le cadre th\u00e9orique est compos\u00e9 par trois mod\u00e8les (\u00ab\u00a0narratives\u00a0\u00bb) de management public, \u00e0 savoir le \u00ab\u00a0New Public Management\u00a0\u00bb, la \u00ab\u00a0Network Governance\u00a0\u00bb ainsi que le \u00ab\u00a0Neo-Weberian State\u00a0\u00bb. Les \u00e9tudes de cas ont \u00e9t\u00e9 choisies sur la base de quatre variables\u00a0: le type de syst\u00e8me politique (Etat centralis\u00e9 ou Etat f\u00e9d\u00e9ral), le type de haute \u00e9cole (g\u00e9n\u00e9raliste ou sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e), la taille de l\u2019institution (\u00ab\u00a0grande\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0petite\u00a0\u00bb institution) et la discipline scientifique (disciplines \u00ab\u00a0dure\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0molle\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0fondamentale\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0appliqu\u00e9e\u00a0\u00bb).<\/p>\n<p>M\u00eame s\u2019il y a des variations entre les diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9tudes de cas, cinq tendances en termes de changement de nature du doctorat ont pu \u00eatre identifi\u00e9es. Le premier changement concerne le recrutement des doctorants qui devient davantage un processus collectif, effectu\u00e9 par un groupe de directeurs de th\u00e8se qui auditionnent des candidats pr\u00e9s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s. Deuxi\u00e8me changement\u00a0: les doctorants suivent des cours, voire un v\u00e9ritable curriculum pr\u00e9d\u00e9fini. Troisi\u00e8me changement\u00a0: l\u2019encadrement des doctorants devient \u00e9galement une t\u00e2che collective, les doctorants \u00e9tant accompagn\u00e9s par un comit\u00e9 de th\u00e8se. Le quatri\u00e8me changement consiste en des \u00e9changes scientifiques \u00e9largis et davantage institutionnalis\u00e9s. En compagnie de chercheurs exp\u00e9riment\u00e9s, les doctorants participent \u00e0 des conf\u00e9rences et d\u2019autres activit\u00e9s qui leur sont sp\u00e9cifiquement d\u00e9di\u00e9es.
