{"id":6,"date":"2017-10-11T10:32:19","date_gmt":"2017-10-11T08:32:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/ecotox\/?page_id=6"},"modified":"2022-11-10T14:15:27","modified_gmt":"2022-11-10T13:15:27","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/ecotox\/","title":{"rendered":"Research area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Developing and conducting projects for <strong>improving environmental risk assessment of organic chemicals<\/strong> is the center of the ecotox group&rsquo;s research activities .<\/p>\n<p>For example, we investigated the <strong>limits of the mixture models<\/strong> application for risk evaluation. We also validated mixture risk predictions with field observations.<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays, there is a need of developing <strong>new sensitive indicators allowing highligting the toxic effects of chemicals early<\/strong> but also indicators that are <strong>relevant for predicting the impact at the population and ecosystem level.<\/strong> We are therefore investigating non-classical physiological parameters (life-traits parameters, molecular biomarkers) and their potential for predicting the risk of the chemicals.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, we also conducted <strong>applied projects in collaboration with local authorities<\/strong>. For example we developed an approach to include mixture in water quality assessment or we proposed substance flow analysis for urban water management.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding teaching, our group is involved in <strong>courses at the bachelor and master level<\/strong>, as well as in <strong>continuous education<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, one important part of our work is dedicated to <strong>science outreach<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Developing and conducting projects for improving environmental risk assessment of organic chemicals is the center of the ecotox group&rsquo;s research activities .
