Data Management Support Services Requested for SNSF and EU Applications"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Effective 1 April 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting&nbsp;<strong>1 April 2026<\/strong>, the&nbsp;<strong>Data Stewardship Biomed Unit (DSBU)<\/strong>&nbsp;will provide&nbsp;<strong>FAIR data management services through dedicated packages<\/strong>&nbsp;for research projects conducted within the&nbsp;Faculty of Biology and Medicine UNIL\u2013CHUV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These services ensure compliance with <strong>FAIR principles<\/strong> (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and <strong>Open Research Data (ORD)<\/strong> requirements from funders such as the <strong>Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF)<\/strong> and European programmes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>DSBU support includes<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Data documentation and structuring (README files)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Metadata creation and standardization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preparation and deposition of datasets for FAIR data sharing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Metadata publication for sensitive clinical datasets via the HORUS Dataset Catalog<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Long-term preservation and archiving<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Inclusion in Grant Applications<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>For projects generating experimental or clinical datasets supporting publications, <strong>DSBU data stewardship services are <strong>normally included included<\/strong>\u00a0in SNSF and European grant applications<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An exception<\/strong> may be considered<strong> if a member of the research group fulfills the role of data scientist<\/strong>, provided that their data stewardship qualifications are assessed and validated by the DSBU at the time of the budget request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These services are delivered through <strong>FAIR Data Package<sup>\u00a9DSBU<\/sup><\/strong> which <strong>require a financial contribution from research groups and must therefore be included in the project budget at submission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>FAIR Data Package<sup>\u00a9DSBU<\/sup><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Two service levels<\/strong> are available depending Catalog), and&nbsp;<strong>up to two disciplinary FAIR repositories<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Complex or multi-technology projects <\/strong>generating multiple categories of datasets<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">Examples of disciplinary FAIR repositories include **ENA (European Nucleotide Archive), EGA (European Genome-phenome Archive), BioImage Archive, Image Data Resource (IDR), EMPIAR (Electron Microscopy Public Image Archive), EMDB (Electron Microscopy Data Bank), MetaboLights (metabolomics repository), and EBRAINS research infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>SNSF Funding Available (up to CHF 10,000)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>FAIR Data Package<sup>\u00a9DSBU<\/sup><\/strong>&nbsp;corresponds to&nbsp;<strong>eligible costs under the SNSF Open Research Data funding scheme<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Researchers <strong>are\u00a0<strong>expected to include a request of\u00a0<\/strong>CHF 8,000\u201310,000 per project<\/strong> , depending on the Data Stewardship service package selected, under the budget category:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Material costs \u2013 Costs for granting access to research data (Open Research Data).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on the selected service level:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Essential package:<\/strong>&nbsp;CHF&nbsp;<strong>2,000 \/ year<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Advanced package:<\/strong>&nbsp;CHF&nbsp;<strong>2,500 \/ year<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Budget Request at Submission<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>As SNSF regulations do not allow additional funding requests after submission or grant award, <strong>researchers planning SNSF or EU proposals are encouraged to contact the DSBU early during proposal
