C\u00e9cile Lebrand, PhD<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Head of the DSBU<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I earned a PhD in neuroscience from Salp\u00eatri\u00e8re Hospital in Paris in 1999, followed by postdoctoral work in biochemistry, cell biology, and imaging at UNIGE, MIT, and Cambridge University from 1999 to 2004. As a junior group leader at DNF-UNIL from 2004 to 2011, I focused on axonal guidance in cortical connections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 2011 to 2014, I served as director manager at EPFL\u2019s NCCR Robotics and then as a senior scientist at ISREC, researching breast cancer and metastasis. Additionally, from 2012 to 2019, I was a scientific collaborator at DNF-UNIL, investigating glia and vascular development in brain embryos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2015, I have led the Data Stewardship Service at FBM UNIL-CHUV, supporting researchers in FAIR data management and Open Science for enhanced research reuse and reproducibility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vassilios Ioannidis, PhD<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lead Computational Biologist – FAIR Data Specialist<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I hold a BSc degree in Biology from the University of Lausanne (UNIL), where I also completed a Master\u2019s in Oncology (1997) and a PhD in Immunology (2001) focusing on the regulation of T and NK lymphocyte development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a Master\u2019s in Bioinformatics (2002), I joined the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, where I worked as a Senior Scientist and as the SIB IT Manager. In these roles, I was responsible to bring bioinformatics expertise and support to the Faculty of Biochemistry and the Department of Physiology at UNIL, and supervising project teams in bioinformatic research, web development, as well as IT projects across internal and external organizations. I also have 20 years experience in teaching bioinformatics to life science research groups, organizing and presenting courses at national and international workshops, and conferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, as Lead Computational Biologist and FAIR data specialist, I am dedicated to advancing the adoption of FAIR principles and best practices in Research Data Management (RDM). I co-lead the FAIR Cookbook editorial board and contribute to national and international initiatives, focusing on delivering accessible guidances to foster Open Science and effective Data Stewardship for the research community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

St\u00e9phanie Battini, PhD<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Biomedical Data scientist<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I hold a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from the University of Strasbourg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am also a state-certified radiologic technologist, bridging clinical imaging with computational research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before joining DSBU, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in computational neuroscience at EPFL\u2019s Blue Brain Project, where I developed models of glia-vascular interactions and simulation of bloodflow in the rat and mouse brain and promoted FAIR and reproducible data workflows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have extensive experience with diverse biomedical data types, including medical imaging (DICOM, TIFF), metabolomics, and structured formats such as JSON and HDF5. Combining paramedical training, metabolomics expertise, and computational neuroscience, I bring a highly interdisciplinary perspective to biomedical data stewardship and translational research<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Julien D\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9az, PhD<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Biomedical Data scientist<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Passionate about microbiology, data, and programming, I pursued a PhD at the University of Lausanne, where I combined bioinformatics with hands-on wet lab research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August 2024, I joined the DSBU to develop tools that help researchers to manage data effectively, adhere to FAIR principles, and promote open science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
