Open access to such data is contingent upon&nbsp;<strong>explicit consent<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>anonymization of personal information<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For sensitive datasets that cannot be anonymized, researchers should utilize the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/dsbu\/1725-2\/\"><strong>HORUS Dataset Catalog<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>at CHUV<\/strong><\/a>, developed and managed by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chuv.ch\/fr\/rc\/qui-sommes-nous\/data-science\">Data Science Group \u2013 DSI<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key features of this catalog include:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Metadata Highlighting<\/strong>: Provides detailed metadata descriptions of sensitive clinical datasets generated at CHUV.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Controlled Access<\/strong>: Ensures secure access to sensitive datasets in compliance with legal restrictions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>High visibility and compliance to FAIR international standard<\/strong>: Enables interoperability between the CHUV catalog and external repository Zenodo, automatically transmitting FAIR metadata for public visibility in the FBM UNIL-CHUV Zenodo community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Submit your Dataset <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The DSBU offers end-to-end assistance with depositing sensitive data via the HORUS CHUV catalog:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Process Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dataset Submission &amp; Metadata Entry<\/strong>: Researchers are supported by the DSBU to upload their dataset into the HORUS Dataset Catalog and fill in all necessary metadata fields describing the dataset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Metadata Review &amp; Curation<\/strong>: A data steward (curator) from the DSBU carefully reviews the submission to ensure the metadata is complete, accurate, and compliant with FAIR principles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Metadata Publication to Zenodo:&nbsp;<\/strong>Once validated, the metadata is automatically published to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/zenodo.org\/communities\/fbm_chuv\/records?q=&amp;l=list&amp;p=1&amp;s=10&amp;sort=newest\">Zenodo FBM UNIL-CHUV Community<\/a>, making the dataset discoverable on an international level, even though the data itself remains protected on CHUV internal servers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Data Access Request by contacting the PI:<\/strong>&nbsp;When other researchers read a publication referring to a dataset hosted in HORUS, or when they browse Zenodo and find the associated metadata, they gain a detailed understanding of the dataset\u2019s content. In brief, research groups contribute through annual ESSENTIAL or ADVANCED packages (CHF 2,000\u20132,500\/year), which cover tailored FAIR data support\u2014including consulting hours, dataset structuring and deposition, and repository guidance\u2014with costs eligible for reimbursement by the SNSF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Effective 1 April 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting&nbsp;<strong>1 April 2026<\/strong>, the&nbsp;<strong>Data Stewardship Biomed Unit (DSBU)<\/strong>&nbsp;will provide&nbsp;<strong>FAIR data management services through dedicated packages<\/strong>&nbsp;for research projects conducted within the&nbsp;Faculty of Biology and Medicine UNIL\u2013CHUV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These services ensure compliance Horus Dataset Catalog<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advice on data reuse, copyright, and licensing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improve visibility of your Datasets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support with secondary data deposition on institutional infrastructure,&nbsp;<strong>ensuring secure&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/dsbu\/consulting-research-data-storage\/#Long-Term-Storage\"><strong>long-term preservation<\/strong><\/a> through tape-based archiving<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tailored Workshops and Team-Based Data publications,&nbsp;<strong>DSBU data stewardship services are&nbsp;normally included included&nbsp;in SNSF and European grant applications<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An exception<\/strong>&nbsp;may be considered<strong>&nbsp;if a member of the research group fulfills the role of data scientist<\/strong>, provided that their data stewardship qualifications are
