We provide&nbsp;<strong>guidance and support<\/strong>&nbsp;to ensure that researchers choose the&nbsp;<strong>best-suited platform<\/strong>&nbsp;based on the&nbsp;sensitivity of the data (sensitive or non-sensitive), the volume of data, and specific computing requirements. data stored on the DCSR NAS that is no longer in current use:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Under<strong> <\/strong>the <strong>responsability of the PI<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Free of charge<\/strong>&nbsp;(2 copies with security and backup)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retention**: <strong>10 years<\/strong> (renewable x1)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Restricted access<\/strong>&nbsp;(limited number of accesses to data on LTS and under request only)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Effective organization of your&nbsp;data <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Production of a<strong> Readme file<\/strong>&nbsp;(document describing the dataset content) for each individual futur TAR subdirectory<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not an external data repository<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Contact us for guidance on how to prepare your<strong> Readme file <\/strong>and <strong>reorganize your data in order to preserve your work<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DSBU will help you by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Informing and <strong>guiding you <\/strong>through the process of reorganizing and describing your research data in the form of explanatory documents called \u201creadme file\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offering you <strong>two powerful tools<\/strong>, <strong>DeepScan <\/strong>to screen your data folders on the NAS-DCSR and <strong>DataSquid <\/strong>to generate semi-automatically the documentation as a readme file.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Final validation <\/strong>of your readme file and data re-organization before data migration from the DCRS NAS to the LTS platform.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step1 &#8211; Data organization<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You need to&nbsp;<strong>reorganize your data according<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>to the projects<\/strong>&nbsp;you will have defined and&nbsp;<strong>clean up\/eliminate obsolete data<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Research&nbsp;data must&nbsp;be<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>organized<\/strong>&nbsp;into the LTS directory&nbsp;<strong>around&nbsp;a&nbsp;given<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>project<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>(matched with a funding, a specific theme, a publication etc.).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2 &#8211; is<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>free up to 4 TB&nbsp;<\/strong>per subdirectory in the LTS directory.&nbsp;<strong>No need to compress your data<\/strong>&nbsp;since this step will be done during the creation of the TAR subdirectory.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The TAR files to be archived must remain at the <strong>root of the LTS <\/strong>directory.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each TAR subdirectory has to comply to\u00a0<strong>naming rules<\/strong>\u00a0(see below) and should be accompanied by an\u00a0<strong>independent readme file<\/strong>. We require you to use our new DSBU tool DataSquid<strong><sup>@DSBU<\/sup><\/strong> to create a\u00a0<strong>LTS Readme file that can be shortly adapted to each individual TAR subdirectory.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The&nbsp;<strong>naming rule only applies to the first TAR sub-folders in the LTS directory<\/strong>. The TAR archive files created from these directories will have the same name. Within these directories the names of the files and data directories are free.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><u>Naming<\/u>&nbsp;<u>rules&nbsp;for&nbsp;subdirectories&nbsp;in the LTS directory (TAR archive file)<\/u>. Contact the Data Stewardship FBM team (DSBU)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DSBU will assist the PI in the following stages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reorganisation and documentation of the data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Semi-automated preparation of README files describing the data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Final validation of the file before migration of the data from short-term storage sites (NAS DCSR) to long-term storage (LTS) at no cost to the PI.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2.2. Data curation by the PI<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The PI sorts, organises and deletes obsolete data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data must be structured by project, theme or publication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2.3. Documentation and Long Term Storage transfer of data by the PI with the support of the DSBU<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Data documented by the PI is transferred to long-term storage (LTS) to ensure preservation for the next ten years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The documentation includes a README file conforming to the standard UNIL README Long-Term Storage File Description.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2.4. Validation by the DSBU<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Once the data is ready, the DSBU carries out a final quality check before validating the transfer to the LTS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After validation and confirmation of archiving by the DSBU, the PI can ask the DCSR to revoke its access to storage infrastructure projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Roles and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>PI (Group Leader):<\/strong> prepares, organizes, and documents their data before departure. Archivage des donn\u00e9es sur bandes magn\u00e9tique\u2013 Changement d\u2019institution ou retraite<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Six mois au minimum avant son d\u00e9part<\/strong>, le PI doit pr\u00e9parer ses donn\u00e9es pour le stockage \u00e0 long terme selon les \u00e9tapes suivantes :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Contact avec l\u2019\u00e9quipe Data Stewardship de la FBM (DSBU)<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>La DSBU assiste le PI dans les \u00e9tapes suivantes :\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>R\u00e9organisation et documentation des donn\u00e9es.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pr\u00e9paration semi-automatis\u00e9e de fichiers README d\u00e9crivant les donn\u00e9es.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Validation finale du dossier avant migration des donn\u00e9es des sites de stockage \u00e0 court terme (NAS DCSR) vers le stockage \u00e0 long terme (LTS) sans aucun frais pour le PI.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Curation des donn\u00e9es par le PI<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Le PI trie, organise et supprime les donn\u00e9es obsol\u00e8tes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Les donn\u00e9es doivent \u00eatre structur\u00e9es par projets, th\u00e9matiques ou publications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Documentation et transfert des donn\u00e9es par le PI pour le Stockage \u00e0 Long Terme (LTS) avec le soutien de la DSBU<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Les donn\u00e9es document\u00e9es par le PI sont transf\u00e9r\u00e9es vers le stockage \u00e0 long terme (LTS) pour en assurer la pr\u00e9servation pour les dix prochaines ann\u00e9es.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La documentation inclut un fichier README conforme au mod\u00e8le standard UNIL \u201cREADME Long-Term Storage File Description\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Validation par la DSBU<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Une fois les donn\u00e9es pr\u00eates, la DSBU effectue un contr\u00f4le qualit\u00e9 avant de valider le transfert vers le LTS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apr\u00e8s validation et confirmation de l\u2019archivage par la DSBU, le PI peut demander \u00e0 la DCSR de r\u00e9voquer ses acc\u00e8s aux projets sur les infrastructures de stockage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. R\u00f4les et responsabilit\u00e9s<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>PI (Chef de groupe)<\/strong>&nbsp;:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pr\u00e9pare, organise et documente ses donn\u00e9es avant son d\u00e9part. Il doit \u00e9liminer les donn\u00e9es obsol\u00e8tes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>D\u00e9canat Recherche (Vice-Doyen Recherche)<\/strong>&nbsp;:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00c9value les demandes de copie de donn\u00e9es en vue d\u2019un transfert vers une autre institution et \u00e9met une d\u00e9cision.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Juriste FBM&nbsp;<\/strong>(Administration&nbsp;FBM)&nbsp;: r\u00e9dige et fait valider le contrat de cession<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>PACCT<\/strong>&nbsp;: valide et signe le contrat de cession.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Data Steward FBM&nbsp;<\/strong>(responsable de la DSBU, en lien avec UNIRIS)&nbsp;:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Aide \u00e0 l\u2019organisation et \u00e0 la documentation des donn\u00e9es via un fichier README.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Donne le feu vert pour l\u2019archivage final des donn\u00e9es via l\u2019application de la DCSR.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>DCSR<\/strong>&nbsp;(Responsable DCSR)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proc\u00e8de \u00e0 l\u2019archivage d\u00e9finitif des donn\u00e9es sur bandes magn\u00e9tiques.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>R\u00e9voque les acc\u00e8s aux donn\u00e9es sur le
