We are thrilled to announce that our team’s latest research has been nominated for the Best Paper Award at the prestigious International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) 2024! The paper, co-authored by Alexandra Garazha, Cédric Merz, Gerhard Schwabe, and Liudmila Zavolokina, is titled “Resilience in Times of Crisis: Empowering Refugees with Self-Sovereign Identity.”
This study explores how Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) can aid identity management in humanitarian contexts. By enabling refugees to securely manage their own digital identities, SSI provides a privacy-focused, decentralized solution that reduces reliance on intermediaries and supports autonomy and dignity—especially in crisis situations.
ICIS is the leading international conference for information systems research, and we are proud to see our work recognized there. The conference will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from December 15–18, 2024.
For those passionate about digital innovation in humanitarian settings, we invite you to read the full paper and engage with this important conversation about resilience and empowerment in times of crisis.
