Our new publication with Arthur Carvalho, Suman Bhunia & Gerhard Schwabe: “Designing a fair and inclusive digital asset-based name-image-likeness marketplace” is now out in Decision Support Systems journal.
We explore how to embed fairness into the design of digital asset marketplaces, using the example of student-athletes’ Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights.
Our key contribution: a design theory for creating marketplaces that are both inclusive and meritocratic.
We developed and evaluated a blockchain-based prototype, with randomized allocation and royalty redistribution logic built-in.
The model applies to broader digital platforms where fairness and value distribution matter.
The paper is part of the Special issue ‘Design Science for Social Good’. Thanks to the SI editors Jeffrey Parsons, Leona Chandra Kruse, Jinsoo Park and Thorsten Schoormann, AE and the reviewers.
