Our paper, “Resilience in Times of Crisis: Empowering Refugees with Self-Sovereign Identity,” co-authored by Aleksandra Garazha, Cédric Merz, and Gerhard Schwabe, was accepted and will be soon presented at ICIS conference.
In this paper, we address the challenges of the Ukrainian refugee crisis in Switzerland. We propose a Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) solution to streamline refugee management, empowering refugees with secure digital identities while increasing efficiency for organizations.
By combining research and feedback from refugees and organizations, we developed key design principles that could transform how we approach refugee identification and empowerment.
There’s still a long way to go, and we need innovative solutions to keep building societal resilience.
Thanks DIZH for funding this research as well as organizations and individuals who participated in the study.
