Alongside the Department's website it is a complementary means of keeping abreast of the Department's rich and diversified scientific activities - visiting faculty, exceptional conferences, publications, awards, appointments, calls for papers and research, ...

WELCOME

The whole DBC extends the warmest of welcomes to new members.
Dilek Koptekin
Postdoc, Group Malaspinas

Dilek Koptekin is a computational biologist whose research mainly focuses on inferring the demographic history of human populations. Through paleogenomics data analysis, she strives to understand changes in human mobility patterns over time. During her doctoral studies at Middle East Technical University, Turkey, she studied the demographic transformation of Anatolian and neighbouring populations during the last ten millennia with a particular focus on the Neolithization of Anatolia and the Aegean.

David Presby
Research fellow, Group Bergmann

David has a BS in Biology from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in Integrative Physiology from University of Colorado. Dave has always been fascinated by physiology and during his Ph.D. he characterized the molecular mechanisms that reduce energy expenditure following weight loss. Following his Ph.D., Dave did a postdoc at Harvard where he investigated the multi-omic response to acute and chronic exercise. After his postdoc, Dave joined a start-up technology company called Whoop that makes wearable devices. At Whoop, he worked as a senior research scientist on the data science team where he developed novel methods to derive physiological insights that inform upon health.

Dave will be joining the Bergmann group where he will be helping to connect the properties of the micro- and macrovasculature from multimodal imaging through genetics and deep learning to better understand vascular pathomechanisms and predict disease risk.
