Kaido Lepik Postdoctoral researcher, Group Kutalik
Having recently finished my doctoral studies on causal inference in human genetics – in the Bioinformatics, Algorithmics and Data Mining research group (BIIT) in the University of Tartu, Estonia (supervised by Prof. Hedi Peterson and Prof. Jaak Vilo) – I am now continuing to pursue my research interests in Prof. Zoltán Kutalik’s Statistical Genetics Group (SGG) as a postdoc. Previously, I obtained a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in mathematical statistics, also at the University of Tartu. These studies were complemented with formal training in machine learning and algorithmics. Prior to engulfing myself in academia, I worked in industry for a market research company.

Primer: Causal Inference using our Genetics
A result of the science outreach workshop ran by the DBC - UNIL. In this short video primer, I introduce you to Randomised Control Trials and their genetic counterpart Mendelian Randomisation (MR), and how I'm working on a more robust MR method for my PhD.

JOIN THE COMPUTATIONAL DISCUSSION
July 7th - 17:30-19h30, on Zoom
The [BC]2 Basel Computational Biology Conference provides a unique platform to scientists at all career stages to present their research. It unites researchers from academia, industry and healthcare working in a broad range of disciplines: from deciphering spatiotemporal gene expression patterns, to modelling evolutionary dynamics or acquiring a better understanding of how genetics influence human health.
