DBC News is a monthly publication that seeks to inform first and foremost faculty members, researchers and students. It also reaches out to a wider community - Department of Computaional Biology partners, esteemed visiting faculty and friends.

Alongside the Department's website it is a complementary means of keeping abreast of the Department's rich and diversified scientific activities - visiting faculty, exceptional conferences, publications, awards, appointments, calls for papers and research, ...

The whole DBC extends the warmest of welcomes to new members.
Yasmine Genolet
Lab technician, Group Fasshauer

I come from Bramois a small village near Sion, in Valais. I am passionate about nature and birds in particular. I did my Bachelor in Biology then I specialized in molecular sciences during my Masters at the University of Lausanne. I now have the pleasure of working in the laboratory of Pr. Dirk Fasshauer as a technician.

Debora Sesia
Doctoral student, Group Ciriello

I studied mathematics at the University of Torino, specialising in Statistics and Data Science. I joined Ciriello’s Lab last August for a research internship and now I will continue as a doctoral student. My research focuses on discovering cancer genomic evolutionary dependencies.

A new statistical method developed by Olivier Delaneau’s group offers game-changing possibilities for inferring human genomes using low coverage sequencing techniques.

The study, which suggests a paradigm shift for data generation in biomedical research, has been published in Nature Genetics early this month.
