Dennis obtained his BSc degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and his MSc degree (with a focus on Signal Processing) at the University of Brescia, Italy, where he was born and raised. After his Master's Degree, Dennis joined a multidisciplinary group in Glasgow led by Prof. Lars Muckli as a research assistant, where he worked on the development of AI pipelines for Brain MRI segmentation. Shortly after, he joined the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine program housed at the Harvard Medical School and enrolled in a Ph.D. program at Maastricht University, The Netherlands. Under the supervision of Prof. Hugo Aerts, Dennis focused on AI applied to clinical and medical imaging data (such as CT, MRI, and X-Ray), especially in the fields of radiology, radiation oncology, cardiology, and developed a profound interest in open source, open science, and reproducible research.

Dennis will be joining Prof. Sven Bergmann’s group to apply his expertise in AI and imaging research to the field of computational biology, where he thinks these technologies could have a significant impact in the coming years. Besides research, during his doctoral studies, Dennis became very interested in health optimization, nutrition, and sports. He is also very passionate about everything that concerns technology, and one of the biggest Sci-fi and Fantasy nerd you will get to meet.
