Guilhem Panneau,
PhD, Group Dal Co

My name is Guilhem Panneau, and I am biosciences engineer graduated from the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Lyon, France. My main interest is to model biological systems to better understand their functioning. For instance, I modeled the efficacy of ribavirin treatment on the chikungunya virus during a summer internship in the Vignuzzi Lab at Pasteur Institute, France. This rewarding experience encouraged me to pursue a career in academic research. Recently, I worked as a research assistant in Dr. Jean Hausser's laboratory at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. I dissected intra-tumor heterogeneity to identify common driver alterations targetable by therapies and limit treatment resistance. I analyzed single-cell RNA sequencing datasets from various patient tumors (neuroblastoma, skin squamous cell carcinoma). My colleagues also trained me to grow triple-negative breast cancer cells in spheroids and scan liver sections using fluorescent microscopy. Now, I am going from cancer cells to bacteria! Indeed, I am joining the Dal Co Lab to pursue my Ph.D., and my research will focus on the behavior of cell communities. You will find me either in front of the microscope or in front of a computer!
