Patrick Clastres

Patrick Clastres is currently professor of Sport History at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Lausanne University (UNIL). He passed his PhD in Contemporary History at Sciences Po Paris. Member of the Institute of Sport Sciences, he is researcher at the Centre of International History and Political Studies of Globalisation (CRHIM). He coordinates the UNIL Global Sport & Olympic Studies Center.

His main interests are about the history and geopolitics of international sport, more precisely the history of international federations and IOC, and the globalisation of sporting cultures. He has published or co-edited 10 books and more than fifty articles, as recently Global Sport Leaders (Palgrave, 2018) and Climbing the Alps from the nineteenth century to nowadays. Practices, emotions, imaginations (PU de Rennes, 2019).
