Cleo Bertelsmeier (born 1987) is Professor and group leader at the Department of Ecology and Evolution at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) since 2019. She studied at the University of Oxford (UK) and received her PhD from the University of Paris XI (France) on the topic of climate change impacts on ant invasions. She then did a postdoc at the University of Adelaide (Australia) and the University of Lausanne. She is interested in spatial patterns and temporal dynamics of biodiversity at a global scale, especially invasions in the light of ongoing globalization, and species responses to novel climatic conditions and communities. Much of her research focusses on insects, but many concepts and tools that are developed in the group are more broadly applicable. Her research lab uses a combination of macroecological data analyses, experiments and field work. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

She is the author of two books<\/a>, more than 70 peer-reviewed publications<\/a> including high-impact papers published in Science, Nature, PNAS, Nature Communications, and Nature Ecology and Evolution, cited more than 11,000 times. Moreover, she received grants from the European Research Council, the Sandoz-Monique de Meuron foundation and the Swiss National Science Foundation. The Faculty of Biology and Medicine recognized her work with the Young Researcher Award (2018) and the Communications Award (2020)\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
