Dans de courts po\u00e8mes d&rsquo;un paragraphe environ, le personnage de l&rsquo;ombre c\u00f4toie ceux de la Reine petite ou de la Reine givr\u00e9e ; un enfant mort-n\u00e9 s&rsquo;accroche, avec ses mains pleines d&rsquo;\u00e9pines, au c\u0153ur du je lyrique. Si l&rsquo;on ne sait pas vraiment qui sont ces personnages, n\u00e9s de l&rsquo;auscultation du quotidien de la po\u00e9tesse, ils sont peut-\u00eatre ce qui lui permet de mieux se saisir elle-m\u00eame, comme le sugg\u00e8re l&rsquo;\u00e9pigraphe d&rsquo;Herman Melville&nbsp;: \u00ab&nbsp;Je crois que ce qu&rsquo;on appelle mon ombre sur la terre est ma substance vraie&nbsp;\u00bb (p.&nbsp;7).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L&rsquo;ombre \u2013 tant\u00f4t ce qui rend inconsolable, tant\u00f4t pourtour de l&rsquo;identit\u00e9 \u2013 est aussi, peut-\u00eatre, la voix qui ouvre des br\u00e8ches po\u00e9tiques dans l&rsquo;ordinaire. Alli\u00e9e mal\u00e9fique, elle devient une compagne magique et chante dans le r\u00e9el. Les ustensiles de cuisine se transforment alors en tr\u00e9sors sensibles. Rassurant l&rsquo;autrice, l\u2019ombre lui murmure que \u00ab&nbsp;l&rsquo;enfance c&rsquo;est diff\u00e9rent, c&rsquo;est des blocs, on les re\u00e7oit, on ne choisit rien&nbsp;\u00bb (p.&nbsp;53)&nbsp;; elle lui offre des \u00ab images muettes qui servent \u00e0 garder les pens\u00e9es secr\u00e8tes&nbsp;\u00bb (p.&nbsp;57). Au fil des instantan\u00e9s de vie de <em>Mat\u00e9riel pour consolation<\/em>, on trouve le reflet courbe de la po\u00e9sie dans les exp\u00e9riences quotidiennes, m\u00eame celles qu&rsquo;on invente, \u00ab&nbsp;comme entendre un oiseau respirer&nbsp;\u00bb (p.&nbsp;9).
