Le th\u00e9\u00e2tre est l\u2019art de la pr\u00e9sence. Devant un public, l\u2019acteur\u00b7rice incarne un personnage qui n\u2019est pas lui\/elle. Corps vivant versus<\/em> technologie immersive, tout semble opposer le th\u00e9\u00e2tre et la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 virtuelle. Pourtant, la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 virtuelle nous invite elle aussi \u00e0 repenser la notion de pr\u00e9sence. On y explore physiquement des lieux qui n\u2019existent pas ou plus ; on y interagit avec des personnages virtuels ; on y fait l\u2019exp\u00e9rience d\u2019autres identit\u00e9s. ARCHAS invite \u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir de mani\u00e8re critique aux diff\u00e9rences et aux possibles contacts entre la pr\u00e9sence th\u00e9\u00e2trale et la pr\u00e9sence virtuelle.

Theater is the art of presence. In front of an audience, the actor embodies a character who is not him\/her. Living body versus immersive technology, everything seems to oppose theater and virtual reality. However, virtual reality also urges us to rethink the notion of presence: we physically explore places that do not or no longer exist; we interact with virtual characters; we experience other identities. ARCHAS is an invitation to reflect critically on the differences and on the possible contacts between theatrical presence and virtual presence.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Voir du th\u00e9\u00e2tre en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 virtuelle, c\u2019est en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral se mettre dans la peau d\u2019un spectateur. ARCHAS offre une exp\u00e9rience plus compl\u00e8te : \u00e0 la possibilit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00eatre spectateur et de visiter des th\u00e9\u00e2tres du pass\u00e9, il ajoute l\u2019occasion de jouer un\u00b7e acteur\u00b7rice qui interagit avec des personnages virtuels. La recherche par la performance et l\u2019interactivit\u00e9 sont au c\u0153ur du processus d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation.

Watching theater in virtual reality means usually to put yourself in the shoes of a spectator. ARCHAS offers a more complete experience: to the possibility of being a spectator visiting past theaters, it adds the opportunity to play an actor who interacts with virtual characters. Performance-based research and interactivits are at the heart of the interpretation process. <\/em> <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Con\u00e7u comme un outil \u00e9volutif, adaptable aux attentes des participant\u00b7e\u00b7s et r\u00e9it\u00e9rable pour d\u2019autres projets, ARCHAS n\u2019est pas la reconstitution d\u2019un unique lieu de spectacle, dans un seul pays et \u00e0 une date pr\u00e9cise de l\u2019histoire. Il propose plut\u00f4t des \u00e9vocations historiquement inform\u00e9es des types de spectacles qui \u00e9taient possibles autrefois. La r\u00e9alit\u00e9 virtuelle permet d\u2019explorer diff\u00e9rentes mani\u00e8res de voir, jouer et mettre en sc\u00e8ne le th\u00e9\u00e2tre en Occident de l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9 au d\u00e9but du XXe<\/sup> si\u00e8cle, avec un focus particulier sur les XIIIe<\/sup>-XVIIIe<\/sup> s.

Designed as an evolving tool that can be adapted to the expectations of participants and duplicated in other projects, ARCHAS is not a reconstruction of a single theater, in a single country and on a specific date in history. Rather, it provides historically informed evocations of types of performances that were once possible. Virtual reality makes it possible to explore various Western ways of staging, acting and attending a play from Antiquity to the beginning of the twentieth century, with a particular focus on the period from the thirteenth to the eighteeth century.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
