Special Issue – The 14th Emile Argand Conference on Alpine Geological Studies

Following the tradition of the Emile Argand Conference on Alpine Geological Studies (commonly known as Alpine Workshop), we are pleased to announce the publication of a Special Issue in the Swiss Journal of Geosciences, one of the leading journals on Alpine geology.

As the Swiss Journal of Geosciences is a multidisciplinary journal, this Special Issue is open to all contributions in the field of Alpine geology.

SJG 2017 2-year Impact Factor: 2.028; Source Normalized Impact per Paper (SNIP):0.800; SCImago Journal Rank (SJR): 0.741

The Alpine Workshop Special Issue will be published fully Open Access as the Swiss Journal of Geosciences will move to full Open Access from 2020 on.

This implies that authors will have to pay an APC (article processing cost) per article (independent of page numbers; no page limit) of EUR 1250 (plus VAT) or EUR 800 for members of the Swiss Geological Society when entering the member code on submission. Write to Chief Editor Daniel Marty (martydaniel@hotmail.com) to receive the member code.

Please note that these costs are covered by the SNF and also by institutions such as the ETH Zürich or you may have other funding possibilities. If your research was funded by the SNF it’s actually an obligation to have it published in full Open Access as from 2020 on. This is also the reason for the change of the SJG to full OA.

For outstanding papers and/or authors who don’t have any funding possibilities, the SJG has a certain number of waivers per year to finance the APC costs of such articles. The decision will be made in the editorial board amongst the scientific editors and of course also depends on the peer review process (if a paper is accepted or not).

The announced Special Issue follows two previously published (2017, 2019) Alpine Workshop Special Issues in the Swiss Journal of Geosciences in 2017 and 2019. These volumes gathered novel and original research on Alpine geology presented during the Alpine Workshops back in 2015 and 2017:
