C\u2019est avec une grande tristesse que je vous annonce le d\u00e9c\u00e8s de Bertrand Bouvier, survenu le 3 janvier 2025, alors qu\u2019il \u00e9tait dans sa 96e<\/sup> ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Amoureux la litt\u00e9rature et de la musique grecques, Bertrand Bouvier a \u00e9t\u00e9 professeur de grec moderne et de litt\u00e9rature grecque moderne \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Gen\u00e8ve de 1976 \u00e0 1995. Membre correspondant de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie d’Ath\u00e8nes, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 fait commandeur (\u03a4\u03b1\u03be\u03b9\u03ac\u03c1\u03c7\u03b7\u03c2) de l’ordre du Ph\u00e9nix en Gr\u00e8ce, et a re\u00e7u un doctorat honoris causa de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Chypre ainsi que de l’Universit\u00e9 Aristote de Thessalonique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bertrand Bouvier a grandement contribu\u00e9 aux travaux de l\u2019AELAC en organisant divers voyages au Mont Athos et Mont Sina\u00ef \u00e0 la recherche de manuscrits grecs, et en relisant, avec sa belle acribie, les \u00e9ditions de textes destin\u00e9es \u00e0 para\u00eetre dans la Series Apocryphorum<\/em>. Ses propres travaux sur la litt\u00e9rature apocryphe, souvent r\u00e9alis\u00e9s en \u00e9troite collaboration avec Fran\u00e7ois Bovon dont il \u00e9tait un ami proche, ont port\u00e9 sur les Actes de Philippe<\/em> et la R\u00e9v\u00e9lation d\u2019\u00c9tienne<\/em>, \u00e0 quoi s\u2019ajoutent l\u2019\u00e9dition du Miracle de l’archange Michel \u00e0 Chonai<\/em>, de la Pri\u00e8re et Apocalypse de Paul<\/em> et d\u2019un fragment grec in\u00e9dit provenant peut-\u00eatre des Actes de Pierre<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Le d\u00e9c\u00e8s de Bertrand Bouvier nous prive d\u2019un ami \u00e9rudit et g\u00e9n\u00e9reux, accompagnant avec bienveillance et exigence celles et ceux qui d\u00e9butaient ou lui demandaient de l\u2019aide. Avec lui dispara\u00eet aussi un grand passionn\u00e9 de la Gr\u00e8ce et un tr\u00e8s fin connaisseur de la langue grecque. Nous adressons nos plus sinc\u00e8res condol\u00e9ances \u00e0 sa famille et \u00e0 ses proches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Bien cordialement,<\/p>\n\n\n\n R\u00e9mi Gounelle, Pr\u00e9sident de l’AELAC<\/p>\n\n\n\n *<\/p>\n\n\n\n Version fran\u00e7aise ci-dessus.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dear colleagues and friends,<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have got some very sad news to announce : Bertrand Bouvier passed away on January 3rd<\/sup> 2025; he was 96 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A grear lover of Greek literature and music, Bertrand Bouvier was Professor of Modern Greek and Modern Greek Literature at the University of Geneva from 1976 to 1995. He was a corresponding member of the Academy of Athens. He was made Commander (\u03a4\u03b1\u03be\u03b9\u03ac\u03c1\u03c7\u03b7\u03c2) of the Order of the Phoenix in Greece, and received an honorary doctorate from the University of Cyprus as well as from Aristotle University of Thessalonica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bertrand Bouvier has made a major contribution to the work of AELAC, by organizing various trips to Mount Athos and Mount Sinai in search of Greek manuscripts, and by proofreading editions of texts to be published in the Series Apocryphorum<\/em>, with his fine acribia. His own work on apocryphal literature, often carried out in close collaboration with Fran\u00e7ois Bovon, of whom he was a close friend, focused on the Acts of Philip <\/em>and the Revelation of Stephen<\/em>, to which can be added the edition of the Miracle of the Archangel Michael at Chonai<\/em>, the Prayer and Apocalypse of Paul<\/em> and an unpublished Greek fragment perhaps from the Acts of Peter.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Bertrand’s death deprives us of an erudite and generous friend, who was a nice and demanding companion to those who were new in research or who asked him for help. With his passing we also loose a great lover of Greece and a very fine connoisseur of the Greek language.
